S C R A P M O N O
O N E . O F . A . K I N D
The S C R A P M O N O is nojin’s first upcycled jacket made of approx. 230 leftover fabric scraps in various shades of blue denim. Using nojin’s signature MONODOT silhouette, the kimono inspired jacket fits loosely, comes with big front pockets, hanger loop and a contrast coloured circle detail at the back. The raw edges of each fabric scrap create a unique and personalised look over time.

Limited edition pieces like the S C R A P M O N O are part of nojin’s ongoing upcycling project where otherwise disregarded material is turned into product. All leftover scraps are being collected with each nojin item being made. Any irregular shapes are cut into squares and rectangles and sorted by colour and material for further processing. Laid out afterwards, matching the shape of the pattern pieces like a puzzle, all individual pieces are being pinned together and stitched along all sides before assembling them into the final garment. The entire process can take a week or longer depending on the complexity of the design.

Denim needs washing less than you’d expect. In fact, the less you wash it, the longer it lasts. Between washes, you can remove surface dirt with a damp cloth. To prevent the garment from shrinking, hand wash or wash at 30° using mild detergent. Turn garment inside out to reduce fading. Do not bleach. Hang dry, as heat from a tumble dryer can cause shrinkage. The weight of the denim will help to pull out any creases. Light iron or steam only if needed.
